Complementary Toolkit Elements

eIn addition to the "Book" part of the toolkit in this recent presentation (slide 42), a number of other suggestions for future aspects of the toolkit, once the book is completed, have been suggested:
  • Offer pre-printed poster versions of SSBMCanvas
    • Ensures 100% Recycled FSC, water based inks, bio-degradable laminate, etc.
    • Relationship with local printers in various regions
  • Additional "Books"
    • For example a book specifically aligned with groups of the 5 stage sustainability maturity model (p. 21 The New Sustainability Advantage, Willard)
      • First book, the result of the crowd-funded collaboration project, will not make an assumption about where the reader is on this maturity journey
      • Subsequent books could target readers at specific stages of their maturity journey.
  • Create opportunities for face-to-face interaction for members of the community
    • "MeetUps" in Local Cities
    • Conferences
  • "app"
    • See these examples for iPad and Web
    • See BMFiddle - which appears to be a platform that can support multiple canvases
    • See this up to date list of on-line tools by Christoph Plamper here.
    • Functionality for sketch, prototype, simulate and improve
    • Includes calculation engine to simulate and record actual tri-profit
    • See if some of Christopher Alexander and Greg Bryant's ideas about software (Gatekeeper) which is designed to help people experience their feelings as they undertake a design task.  This might be useful to help people use  what CA asserts that everyone shares -- an innate important faculty of judgement -- they agree on which things 'have more life', or 'reflect their true self'.    Could such an approach help people activate more of their values (aka "innate judgement") and design better business models that enable more possibilities for flourishing. (Thanks to David Ing for pointing out this idea).

Out of Scope

The organization is not planning to offer products and services in the following areas.  It is expected that others will focused their value propositions in these areas.  Members of the co-op (franchisees) will be able to offer "branded" services using the Toolkit's above.

  • Consulting - either general on SSBM strategy and design, or specifically or application of the SSBM Design Method
  • Training
  • Funded (action) research to evaluate, develop cases, etc.
